When Will iOS 26 Be Available in Your Area?

Apple typically releases its major software updates at 10 AM Pacific Time (PT). This means the update will become available simultaneously around the world, but the local time for the release will vary depending on your time zone.

Which iPhones Are Compatible with iOS 26?

With every new iOS release, Apple discontinues support for some older models. 

If you own an iPhone that came out in the last five or six years, you should be fine to install iOS 26.

The main models missing out this year are the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR – which will be left on iOS 18. Got one of the compatible models? The install process will be pretty straightforward, when iOS 26 does land in your region.

Note: While many older models will be compatible, some of the most advanced "Apple Intelligence" features in iOS 26 will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models due to their more powerful chips. The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, and older models will not be able to update to iOS 26.

How to Update Your iPhone to iOS 26

Before you start, it’s always a good idea to back up your iPhone. You can do this with iCloud or by connecting your phone to a computer and using Finder (on Mac) or iTunes (on Windows).

If you’re in no hurry, it might be worth waiting a few hours before attempting to install iOS 26, or even waiting a day or two to be on the safe side.
